Extropic is building thermodynamic computing hardware that harnesses natural thermal fluctuations as a computational resource, delivering orders-of-magnitude better energy efficiency than GPUs for the probabilistic workloads at the core of generative AI.

AI is hitting an energy wall. As models scale, the cost of running inference has become a physics problem, not a software one. US data centres are on track to more than double their energy consumption by 2030. Extropic attacks the problem at the physics layer - treating thermodynamic noise as an asset rather than a liability.

Why Untapped Invested

Guillaume Verdon is a physicist, serial founder, and co-inventor of TensorFlow Quantum. CTO Trevor McCourt brings the same depth from MIT's Quanta Lab and Google Quantum AI.
